    We all love the sweetness of a cherry in the summer. But did you know you can use them to make homemade ice cream? With only 10 minutes of prep time, it's easier than you think!

    2 c. fresh dark-sweet cherries, pitted and halved
    2 c. Hy-Vee heavy whipping cream
    2 tsp. Hy-Vee vanilla extract
    1 (14-oz.) can Hy-Vee sweetened condensed milk
    3 tbsp. fresh lime juice
    2 tbsp. Hy-Vee granulated sugar
    ½ c. Hy-Vee cherry preserves
    3 tbsp. lime zest, plus additional for garnish

    Directions

    1. Place cherries in a small bowl; slightly mash with a fork and set aside. Beat whipping cream and vanilla in a large bowl with an electric mixer on high until stiff peaks form (tips stand straight).

    2. Place sweetened condensed milk in another large bowl; stir in lime juice, and sugar. Fold whipped cream into sweetened condensed milk mixture. Swirl in cherries, cherry preserves, and lime zest.

    3. Spread mixture in a 9x5-inch loaf pan. Cover and freeze for 8 hours, or until firm. To serve, let stand at room temperature for 5 to 10 minutes. Scoop ice cream into dishes. Garnish with additional lime zest, if desired.
