Cheese Toasties

1 (10.5 oz) pkg silken tofu | ||
1 tbsp. nonfat mayonnaise | ||
1 tsp. Worcestershire sauce | ||
¼ tsp. garlic powder | ||
¼ tsp. paprika | ||
⅛ tsp. Tabasco sauce | ||
1 c. grated Cheddar-style soy cheese (4 oz) | ||
small bread slices, such as cocktail rye |
Directions
- Whirl tofu, mayonnaise, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder and Tabasco in blender container until smooth.
- Add soy cheese and whirl until smooth, stopping to scrape down sides as needed.
- Spread about 2 tablespoons on each bread slice and place on baking sheet. Broil 4 to 5 minutes, until starting to brown.
- Veggie Cheese Toasties: Add 1/2 teaspoon celery seed, 2 tablespoons very finely chopped zucchini, 2 tablespoons very finely chopped green bell pepper, 2 tablespoons very finely chopped green onions and 2 tablespoons very finely chopped carrots to the blended mixture and blend in.
- Italian Cheese Toasties: Add 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley, 1/2 teaspoon oregano, 1/4 teaspoon thyme, 1/4 teaspoon basil and 1 finely chopped medium tomato to the blended mixture and blend in.
