Candied Fruit Popcorn

1 batch Basic Popcorn | ||
⅓ c. Hy-Vee unsalted butter | ||
3 tbsp. light corn syrup | ||
½ c. Hy-Vee sugar | ||
1 (3 oz) box Hy-Vee orange-flavored gelatin |
Directions
- Preheat oven to 300 degrees. Line a cookie sheet with parchment paper. Put popped popcorn in a large bowl.
- In a medium saucepan, heat butter and corn syrup over medium heat. Stir mixture until butter is melted and mixture is combined. Add sugar and gelatin and stir until just combined.
- Increase heat and bring to a boil. Once mixture comes to a boil, reduce heat so mixture is simmering. Simmer for 5 minutes, stirring continuously. Pour mixture over popped popcorn and toss with wooden spoon until all is coated. Spread popcorn on prepared pan and spread out evenly.
- Bake for about 5 minutes or until crunchy. Cool completely.
