    8 Jonathan apples, peeled, cored and sliced
    1 c. water
    1 (18.5 oz) pkg Hy-Vee white cake mix
    1 c. packed Hy-Vee brown sugar
    1 tsp. Hy-Vee ground cinnamon
    ½ c. Hy-Vee butter, melted
    Hy-Vee whipped topping, optional

    Directions

    1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
    2. Arrange apples in the bottom of a lightly greased 9-by-13-inch baking pan. Pour water over apples.
    3. In a medium mixing bowl, stir together cake mix, brown sugar and cinnamon. Stir in melted butter and blend until crumbly. Sprinkle over the apples.
    4. Bake uncovered for 50 minutes.
    5. Serve warm with Hy-Vee whipped topping if desired.
