    1 ½ lbs. 80%-lean ground beef
    1 medium onion, finely chopped
    1 ½ tbsp. purchased gourmet burger seasoning
    16 slice(s) Hy-Vee white or whole wheat bread
    4 tbsp. Hy-Vee butter, softened
    8 slice(s) Hy-Vee American or cheddar cheese
    Lettuce leaves
    2 tomatoes, thinly sliced
    8 slice(s) Hy-Vee bacon, halved, cooked

    Directions

    1. Combine beef, onion and seasoning. Form mixture into four 3/4-inch-thick patties.
    2. Preheat grill for direct cooking over medium heat.
    3. Grill burgers for 14 to 18 minutes or internal temperature reaches 160 degrees, turning once halfway through grilling.
    4. Meanwhile, for “grilled cheese” buns, lightly spread one side of each bread slice with butter. Top unbuttered sides of 8 of the bread slices with cheese. Top with remaining 8 bread slices, unbuttered sides down.

    6. Preheat a large skillet over medium heat. Place 4 of the sandwiches in the skillet. Grill sandwiches until bread is golden and cheese is melted, turning once halfway through cooking. Repeat with remaining sandwiches.
    7. Serve burgers on lettuce-lined “grilled cheese” buns with tomato and bacon slices.
