Sizzling bacon, oozing melted cheese, and a grilled burger combine into a satisfying meal.

1 medium onion, finely chopped | ||
1 ½ tbsp. purchased gourmet burger seasoning | ||
16 slice(s) Hy-Vee white or whole wheat bread | ||
4 tbsp. Hy-Vee butter, softened | ||
8 slice(s) Hy-Vee American or cheddar cheese | ||
Lettuce leaves | ||
2 tomatoes, thinly sliced | ||
8 slice(s) Hy-Vee bacon, halved, cooked |
Directions
- Combine beef, onion and seasoning. Form mixture into four 3/4-inch-thick patties.
- Preheat grill for direct cooking over medium heat.
- Grill burgers for 14 to 18 minutes or internal temperature reaches 160 degrees, turning once halfway through grilling.
- Meanwhile, for “grilled cheese” buns, lightly spread one side of each bread slice with butter. Top unbuttered sides of 8 of the bread slices with cheese. Top with remaining 8 bread slices, unbuttered sides down.

- Preheat a large skillet over medium heat. Place 4 of the sandwiches in the skillet. Grill sandwiches until bread is golden and cheese is melted, turning once halfway through cooking. Repeat with remaining sandwiches.
- Serve burgers on lettuce-lined “grilled cheese” buns with tomato and bacon slices.
