Basic French Toast with Mixed Berry Syrup
Servings and Ingredients
|1 c.||Organic Valley half-and-half|
|3||Hy-Vee large organic eggs|
|2 tbsp.||honey, warmed in microwave for 20 seconds|
|¼ tsp.||Hain salt|
|½ tsp.||Simply Organic cinnamon|
|8||(1/2-inch thick) slices day-old or stale bread|
|2 tbsp.||Organic Valley butter, divided|
|1||(16 oz) bag frozen Cascadian Farm mixed berries, thawed|
|2 tbsp.||organic sugar|
- Preheat oven to 375 degrees. In medium size mixing bowl, whisk together the half-and-half, eggs, honey, salt and cinnamon.
- Dip bread into mixture, allowing to soak for 30 seconds on each side. Remove to a cooling rack set in a sheet pan; allow to sit for 1 to 2 minutes.
- Over medium-low heat, melt 1/2 tablespoon of butter in a saute pan. Place 2 slices of bread at a time into the pan; cook until golden brown, approximately 2 to 3 minutes per side. Repeat with remaining 6 slices.
- Meanwhile, combine berries and sugar in a saucepan. Simmer over medium heat until desired syrup consistency. Serve over French toast.
