1 medium white onion, finely chopped
    2 clove(s) garlic, minced
    2 tsp. fresh sage, minced
    1 tbsp. fresh thyme, minced
    1 tbsp. fresh parsley, minced

⅔ c. Swanson chicken broth, plus additional as needed
    Hy-Vee salt
    Hy-Vee ground black pepper

    Things To Grab

    • Large casserole dish
    • Hy-Vee nonstick cooking spray
    • Large skillet
    • Wooden spoon
    • Large bowl

    Directions

    1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Spray a large casserole dish with nonstick cooking spray; set

    2. Melt butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Sauté celery, onions, garlic, sage, thyme, and parsley for 4 to 5 minutes or until onions have softened.

    3. Place bread cubes in a large bowl, gently mix in sautéed onion mixture and season, to taste, with salt and black pepper. Add broth to bread and herb mixture. Place into prepared baking dish. Bake 20 minutes, or until bread begins to brown.

    4. Remove stuffing from oven and stir, moving crispy bread pieces towards the bottom and soft bread pieces on the top. If needed, stir in additional chicken broth. Place stuffing back into the oven.

      Hyvee Culinary Expert Tip
Make sure your broth doesn’t pool at the bottom of the casserole dish. Pooling broth creates a gummy stuffing.

    5. Repeat step 4, two more times, or until most of the bread is crisp with a soft interior, about 40 more minutes. Remove from the oven and serve.
