Apricot-Apple Cider

Description
Heat and serve this cider in your biggest slow cooker. Serve the whisky or brandy on the side, so it's a family friendly drink.

1 (128 oz) bottle apple cider | ||
2 (5.5 oz each) cans apricot nectar | ||
2 c. Hy-Vee orange juice | ||
2 c. Hy-Vee sugar | ||
4 cinnamon sticks | ||
2 tsp. ground allspice | ||
1 tsp. ground cloves | ||
½ tsp. freshly ground nutmeg | ||
24 lemon slices | ||
36 oz. rye whisky or brandy |
Directions
- Combine the apple cider, apricot nectar, orange juice, sugar and spices in a stock pot over medium heat. Cover and bring to a very low boil, stirring occasionally to dissolve the sugar. Uncover, reduce heat to maintain a simmer for 10 minutes. Remove and discard cinnamon sticks.
- To serve, place a lemon slice and 1-1/2 oz of whisky or brandy in the bottom of each mug. Fill with hot apricot-apple cider.
