In another microwavable bowl, microwave butter on HIGH 30 to 45 seconds or until melted. Stir in brown sugar, cinnamon and nutmeg. Microwave 30 seconds more or until smooth and bubbly. Stir into cereal.
Microwave cereal mixture 2 minutes, stirring half-way through. Spread on waxed paper and sprinkle apples evenly on top.
In a small microwavable bowl, microwave baking chips and shortening about 1 minute or until chips can be stirred smooth. Drizzle over cereal mixture; let stand until set. Break into bite-size pieces. Store in airtight container.
