All-Star Marinara Sauce
Look like an all-star in the kitchen when you whip up this chunky homemade marinara. Veggie lovers can add peppers and mushrooms; and for you spice lovers, try adding a pinch of red pepper flakes.
Servings and Ingredients
|¼ c. Hy-Vee Select extra-virgin olive oil|
|1 small onion, finely chopped|
|6 garlic cloves, chopped finely|
|½ tsp. Hy-Vee salt|
|¼ tsp. freshly ground Hy-Vee black pepper|
|1 tbsp. Hy-Vee Italian seasoning|
|1 (28 oz) can Hy-Vee crushed tomatoes|
- In a medium saucepan, heat oil over medium heat. Add onions and garlic and sauté until onions are translucent, about 10 minutes.
- Add salt, pepper, Italian seasoning and tomatoes. Simmer until sauce thickens, about 1 hour.
