There’s just something about thriving green plants in your space. Aside from their aesthetic value – color, texture, size – studies have shown plants to reduce anxiety and depression, as well as improve air quality in your home. Time to start plantscaping (it’s a real thing!)

Why, hello there
The entryway is great for a big, lush plant or two. Set them on the floor to mark the transition from the outdoors in. The top-down view is interesting too. Place seasonal cut flowers on an entry table or stand to offer a splash of welcoming color.
Mix without mess in the kitchen
Mix up jade and a zebra cactus for a handsome windowsill display. They don’t shed and are relatively low-maintenance.
Mantle masterpiece
Maybe you need a little green to distract the eye from that monster of a TV hanging over your fireplace. Use a snake plant for height and a String of Fishhooks or String of Pearls to drape the mantle’s edge.
Green up the great room
For larger spaces, place big, bold plants behind and slightly to the side of furniture – think Chinese evergreen, fiddle-leaf and rubber plants here. Keep smaller plants, such as asplenium or jade up front. Look collected, not cluttered. Group smaller plants together on a tray or table. And keep all your plant pals just far enough from windows, so they don’t burn.
Cozy corners
Pull a cozy chair into a corner and surround it with a plant vignette consisting of a yucca, monstera and spider plant. Keep larger plants against the wall. If you have a small side table or stand, add some fresh cut flowers.
Shelf life
You can create a rich, full shelf display by mixing in some artificial plants. Add interest with texture and shapes, but keep the color palette simple. Consider String of Pearls, spider plant, ivy and golden pothos.
