    Directions

    1. Gather all ingredients to make pie crust. Make sure whatever fat you're using (butter, shortening, etc.) is cold. You can even place it in the freezer for 10 to 15 minutes before starting your crust.

    2. Cutting in butter to flour using a pastry cutter

Cut butter into flour using a pastry cutter. Add enough water to form a soft, malleable ball.

    3. Using a rolling pin to roll out pie crust on lightly floured surface

Roll pastry, starting at the center moving toward the edges, into a 12-inch-diameter circle. Fold pastry into quarters.

    4. Bottom crust put into place in pie pan

Unfold pastry into a 9-inch pie pan. Ease pastry into pan without pulling or stretching.

    5. Fruit-filled pie in pie plate being covered with top crust

Transfer fruit filling into pastry-lined pie pan. Fold top pastry in half; gently place over filling, covering half of the filling. Unfold pastry to cover other half of filling.

    6. Fluting the edges of double crusted pie

Trim pastry to 1/2-inch beyond edge of pie plate. Fold top pastry under bottom pastry and crimp as desired.
