I have been in the food industry, starting out as a waitress at age 16. At age 20 I found myself looking for a career when it was right in front of my face. After many years on the front end of the restaurant, I found myself wanted to venture into the back. This is when I chose to go to The Art Institute – Minneapolis. I had found my calling and loved every minute of school.

I worked under many different chefs in Minneapolis, my favorite being my time at the Radisson Downtown under Chef Paul Lynch. After graduation I moved back to my home town of Austin and was offered the job as chef in our Austin Hy-Vee. After being with the company for a few years, I couldn’t imagine working anywhere else. I love my bosses and what I call my Hy-Vee family. As an award-winning chef, I like a good challenge when it comes to food but my favorite expertise is traditional Italian cuisine.
