The Hy-Vee Academy, as named by the more than 60 selected diverse high school students who've participated in this spring and summer program since 2007, focuses on career preparation and establishing a pipeline of diverse job candidates for the future success and outreach of Hy-Vee. Designed with the needs of diverse students, the Academy is staffed by Des Moines area store directors who volunteer their time to mentor, guide and eventually hire, the best candidates in this program.
The 2008 Hispanic Retail Excellence Award, awarded by Progressive Grocer magazine for Hy-Vee's efforts to win the heart and minds of the Hispanic Consumer. Based on the number of votes cast by more than 100 retailers nationwide, Hy-Vee was voted as being superior in its efforts to serve, hire and sponsor the needs of the Hispanic community.
The Des Moines Disability Services Award in 2009 for Hy-Vee's efforts to hire the disabled. Hy-Vee was honored at a breakfast in 2009 that recognized our efforts to hire and retain disabled employees in the Des Moines area.
