Chris Myers

Chris Myers is an award-winning chef with a knack for pairing food with the perfect craft beer and for creatively using seasonal ingredients.

A native of Wisner, Nebraska, Chris grew up surrounded by food, with one grandfather who farmed and another who owned and operated a grocery store.

Chris’s father later took over the grocery store. But it was later in life that Chris discovered his love of cooking. After graduation from Quincy University in Illinois with a bachelor’s degree in broadcast communications, Chris worked for a decade at a National Public Radio affiliate in a variety of roles including operations director. He decided to pursue his passion by attending the Institute for Culinary Arts at Metropolitan Community College in Omaha while working full-time in a restaurant to gain experience. Thriving in the fast-pace kitchen environment, he quickly advanced from line cook to sous chef at the DoubleTree Hotel -Downtown Omaha, where he continued working immediately after graduation. His next opportunity was helping to develop the menu for a new Old Market restaurant, where he was promoted from sous chef to executive chef. For seven years, Chris worked as a private chef for the Jesuits at Creighton Preparatory School – a position that helped the school raise money by auctioning his multiple-course, fine-dining meals to private donors.

Chris was selected as a featured chef for the 2012 Emerging Terrain “Elevate” culinary and architecture event. He’s won several culinary awards, including the National Restaurant Association’s 2004 Salute to Excellence Student Award, and routinely donates his time and talent. He led the Souper Chefs program for homeless shelters in 2005 and participated three years in the anti-hunger organization, Share Our Strength’s Chef’s Night Out. Along with his wife, he developed the concept of and helped launch the Comfort Food Classic, a competition of Omaha’s top chefs with a different comfort food each year, to raise money for Ted E. Bear Hollow, a center for grieving children and teens. Chris is also an active volunteer for the Benson Theatre Project.

When not working, Chris enjoys grilling, gardening, taking his dachshund-beagle Daffodil to the dog park, watching baseball, preparing for fitness challenges like Trek Up the Tower and catching some stand-up comedy.
