What are Blue Zones?

Blue Zones are locations around the world whose population has a high percentage of people living long lifespans. These individuals have healthy lifestyle behaviors, some of which include healthy eating behaviors and building good social networks.

What are Blue Zone cooking classes?

Blue Zone cooking classes at your Marion Hy-Vee are led by Dietitian Brian. The classes are hands-on; cook together and eat together. The food prepared is mostly vegetarian cuisine, with some fish being included on the menu at times.


Blue Zone cooking classes for 2016 and on?

For the past two years, participants have been able to enjoy these classes without paying a fee out of their own pockets. The Marion BZ grant has graciously funded these classes, covering the $15.00/person fee. We strive to continue offering these monthly classes as we have in the past, but ask for participants to now pay for their portion. We are providing incentives for further participation, which include, a 10% off coupon off the menu items and a wallet friendly signature Blue Zone punch card. If you attend five classes, the 6th class is free!

Please sign up and pre-pay by the end of the day on Tuesday, February 16, (Marion Hy-Vee Customer Service; in person or via telephone). Each class is open to 20 participants. Cost = $15/person
