Hemoglobin A1C is a simple blood test that individuals with Diabetes use to manage their blood glucose levels. Hemoglobin A1C results help provide an indication of the individual's average blood glucose over the last 2-3 month period. While it is recommended that those with Diabetes have an A1C screening four times per year, insurance often only covers two of these screenings. This screening is also a good way for others to find out if they may be at risk for pre-diabetes or diabetes.
Stop by the Healthy You Mobile at your Belton Hy-Vee store on Wednesday, November 13, from 3-7 p.m. for a FREE Hemoglobin A1C screening with our Registered Dietitian, Jamie Young, to see where you stand. Plus as a nutrition expert, she can provide information on how to improve your results through small dietary changes!
*Note: You do not need to fast for this test as the result will be based on an average of your fasting and non-fasting blood glucose levels over the last 2-3 months.
