Junior Chefs in the Hy-Vee Kitchen – Chinese New Year

Junior Chefs, let’s get cooking in the kitchen! Join dietitian Teequa as she walks you through two fun recipes to celebrate the Chinese New Year! You will get to make homemade crab Rangoons, and chicken and vegetable cauliflower stir fry.

This class is designed for children ages 8 and older.

Here are the ingredients and supplies you will need for this class!

  • 1 8oz package reduced-fat cream cheese
  • ½ cup mayonnaise
  • 1 Tbsp. paprika
  • 1 Tbsp. lime juice
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp reduced-sodium soy sauce
  • 8oz crabmeat
  • Wonton wrappers
  • 1lb boneless skinless chicken breasts cut into strips
  • 2 tsp olive oil
  • 3 cups frozen stir-fry vegetables, thawed
  • ¼ cup reduced sodium soy sauce
  • 1 Tbsp. sugar
  • 1 tsp. garlic powder
  • 1 tsp. ground ginger
  • 1 frozen steamer bag of cauliflower rice
  • 1 frozen steamer bag of brown rice
  • 1 frozen steamer bag of peas and carrots
  • Measuring cups
  • Measuring spoons
  • 3 mixing bowls
  • 3 mixing spoons
  • Baking sheet
