Cheddar-Beer Fondue Dip

Serves 24 (2 tablespoons each).

All you need:

1 (12 oz) bottle light beer
2 cloves garlic, minced
1/2 tsp Hy-Vee Dijon mustard
1/2 tsp bottled hot pepper sauce
4 1/2 c. Hy-Vee shredded sharp cheddar cheese
2 1/2 tbsp Hy-Vee cornstarch
Rye or Italian bread cubes, optional
Granny Smith apple slices, optional

All you do:

In a medium saucepan, heat beer over medium heat just until boiling; stir in garlic, mustard and hot pepper sauce.
In a bowl, toss cheese with cornstarch. Slowly add to beer mixture, stirring. Continue stirring until mixture is smooth and thick, about 4 to 6 minutes total.
Serve with bread cubes and apple slices.
