    1 lbs. lean ground beef
    ½ c. Hy-Vee bread crumbs
    1 Hy-Vee large egg, beaten
    1 small onion, finely chopped
    1 tbsp. Italian seasoning
    1 tbsp. minced garlic
    Hy-Vee salt and Hy-Vee black pepper, to taste
    Hy-Vee canola oil, as needed
    3 Hy-Vee American cheese slices, cut into quarters
    3 slice(s) Hy-Vee bacon, cooked and cut into quarters
    12 green lettuce leaves
    12 cherry tomatoes

    Directions

    1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
    2. In a large bowl, combine beef, bread crumbs, egg, onion, Italian seasoning, garlic, salt and pepper. Divide and shape into 12 meatballs.
    3. In a large oven-safe skillet, heat oil over medium-high heat. Add meatballs and cook until browned on all sides. Transfer skillet with meatballs to oven and bake until meatballs reach an internal temperature reaches 160 degrees, about 10 minutes.
    4. Top each meatball with 1/4 slice cheese, 1/4 slice bacon, a lettuce leaf and a cherry tomato. Secure with a toothpick or skewer.
