    Did someone say homemade dulce de leche? Oh, right... that was us! Make your dulce de leche in your Instant Pot in about 1/3 of the time it would take to make it on the stovetop or the slow cooker. Use it to top your favorite desserts or sandwich it between two cookies in our Brazilian Alfajores recipe.

    1 (14-oz.) can Hy-Vee sweetened condensed milk
    Water
    ½ tsp. Hy-Vee salt

    • Can opener
    • Rack
    • Aluminum foil

    Directions

    1. Set rack or folded aluminum foil in the bottom of an Instant Pot or electric pressure cooker. Remove label of sweetened condensed milk. Use a can opener to open can; leaving lid attached. Tightly wrap with aluminum foil. Place can on top of rack or folded aluminum foil.

    2. Fill pressure cooker with water about halfway up wrapped can of aluminum foil. Lock lid and pressure cook for 40 minutes. When finished cooking, release valve allowing steam to escape. Carefully remove lid. Use tongs to remove can from pressure cooker. Cool slightly.

    3. Remove aluminum foil and lid from can. Sweetened condensed milk will be thickened and caramelized; stir in salt. Allow to cool completely before serving. Use to fill sandwich cookies, top ice cream, etc.
