Barbecued Beef Brisket

    3 ½ lbs. flat beef brisket
    4 or 5 slices onion
    1 c. ketchup
    2 c. water
    3 dash(es) Tabasco sauce
    1 tsp. chili powder
    ⅓ c. Worcestershire sauce
    1 tsp. salt
    water, if necessary

    Directions

    1. Place brisket in roasting pan. Top with onion slices. Bake uncovered at 400 degrees.
    2. Meanwhile, bring ketchup, water, Tabasco sauce, chili powder, Worcestershire sauce and salt to a boil in a medium saucepan.
    3. Reduce oven heat to 325 degrees. Pour sauce over brisket.
    4. Cover pan and bake until tender at 325 degrees, about 4 hours.
    5. Baste brisket with sauce every 30 minutes.
    6. Add water if desired for desired thickness.
    7. Let cool 15 minutes. Slice across grain of meat to serve.
