Description

Look like an all-star in the kitchen when you whip up this chunky homemade marinara. Veggie lovers can add peppers and mushrooms; and for you spice lovers, try adding a pinch of red pepper flakes.

1 small onion, finely chopped
6 garlic cloves, chopped finely
½ tsp. Hy-Vee salt
¼ tsp. freshly ground Hy-Vee black pepper
1 tbsp. Hy-Vee Italian seasoning
1 (28 oz) can Hy-Vee crushed tomatoes

Directions

  1. In a medium saucepan, heat oil over medium heat. Add onions and garlic and sauté until onions are translucent, about 10 minutes.
  2. Add salt, pepper, Italian seasoning and tomatoes. Simmer until sauce thickens, about 1 hour.
