  1. Stove Top: 1. Combine 1 cup rice with 2 cups water in a medium saucepan. Add butter and salt if desired. 2. Bring contents to boil. 3. Reduce heat to low and cover. Simmer 45 minutes or until water is absorbed. 4. Remove from heat. Let stand 5 minutes. 5. Fluff with fork and serve. Microwaving: 1. Combine 1 -3/4 cups water and 1 cup rice in a 2-quart microwave safe dish. Add butter and salt if desired. 2. Cover and cook on high for 5 minutes. 3. Reduce power setting by 50% and cook for 20 minutes. 4. Let stand for 5 minutes. 5. Fluff with fork and serve. * Microwaves may vary.
