The Cowboy Chicken Griller is a chicken breast stuffed with jalapenos and hot pepper cheese and tightly wrapped in bacon.

This specialty ready-to-grill item was inspired by a customer request more than 20 years ago. The customer asked the meat managers at a Hy-Vee in Missouri if they would re-create a dish she enjoyed as a little girl: hot dogs wrapped in ground beef. So they did. The managers then started making Italian sausages and cheese wrapped in hamburger, sometimes with bacon, and called them Griller’s Delight. Different variations of stuffed meats wrapped in bacon eventually led to the wildly popular Chicken Griller of today—a cheesy stuffed chicken breast wrapped in bacon and ready for the grill or oven.

  1. In the Oven: Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Place grillers in a baking dish uncovered and bake for 40 minutes or until internal temperature reaches 160 degrees. To crisp the bacon, place the griller under a broiler for 5 minutes or until it is golden brown.
  2. On the Grill: Grill on a medium-heat charcoal or gas grill for 20 to 30 minutes or until internal temperature reaches 160 degrees. Turn every 6 to 7 minutes for best results.
