  1. Black eyed peas are a natural agricultural product. Despite use of modern cleaning equipment, it is not always possible to remove all foreign material. Please sort and rinse black eyed peas before cooking.
  2. Cooking Directions: Add 6 cups of water to drained and rinsed black eyed peas. Simmer gently with lid tilted until desired tenderness is reached, about 1-1/2 to 2 hours. Quick Soak: Rinse and sort black eyed peas in a large pot. To 1 lb. of peas add 6 to 8 cups hot water. Bring to rapid boil; boil for 2 minutes. Remove from heat. Cover and let stand 1 hour. Drain and rinse peas. Overnight Soak: Rinse and sort black eyed peas in a large pot. To 1 lb. of peas add 6 to 8 cups cold water. Let stand overnight or at least 6 to 8 hours. Drain and rinse beans.
