Helping Trees Produce Fruit - What to Use for Fertilizer?

Q:  I have several different kinds of fruit trees, but last year only the peach and cherry trees produced fruit. What can I use to help them? What can I use so the fruit is not buggy? Can I use rose fertilizer on the trees and my garden?  Sandy - Cambridge
A:  For your fruit trees, use Miracle-Gro Tree & Shrub Spikes at the drip line (outer branches) of the trees.  Also apply lime sulfur according to package directions before they break bud.  All Seasons Oil Spray (for insects) may also be used before they break bud.  Apply Home Orchard Spray twice monthly after blooming until harvest.
Rose fertilizer will not work on your trees and garden.  For your trees, use Miracle-Gro Tree and Shrub Spikes.  For your garden apply 10-10-10 fertilizer, one pound per 100 square feet.  I also recommend testing your garden soil with a garden soil test kit.
