Panora Native Angie Nelson Joins the Hy-Vee Hall of Fame

WEST DES MOINES, Iowa (Jan. 9, 2019) — Panora native Angie Nelson was named to the Hy-Vee Hall of Fame in December. Nelson, group vice president of retail pharmacy, was recently inducted as the 2018 Officer of the Year, Operations, at the company’s annual stockholders’ meeting.
Nelson was nominated for this honor by her peers, who spoke of her leadership during a year of tremendous growth as she helped grow the Hy-Vee pharmacy business to one of the largest departments in the company.
Hy-Vee Chairman, CEO and President Randy Edeker saluted Nelson’s willingness to do the tasks that are necessary to both help our stores and understand the complex world of pharmacy.
“Angie’s work ethic and devotion to Hy-Vee have earned her this honor,” Edeker said.
Nelson’s career at Hy-Vee began in 2001 as a part-time non-registered pharmacist in Ankeny. One month later, she became a full-time registered pharmacist at the Park Avenue Hy-Vee in Des Moines. In 2003, she became the pharmacy manager at West Des Moines Drugstore. Nelson moved to the position of store director at Jefferson Drugstore in 2006. She was promoted to pharmacy supervisor in 2014. She transitioned to assistant vice president, central fill, and then to assistant vice president, retail pharmacy, northern region in 2017. Nelson was promoted to her current position of group vice president of retail pharmacy later in 2017.
Nelson graduated from Panorama High School in Panora, Iowa, and earned her doctorate of pharmacy from Drake University.
