Hy-Vee to Provide Fans the Chance to See the Wahlberg Brothers on Sept. 22

WEST DES MOINES, Iowa (Sept. 6, 2018) — Hy-Vee, Inc. will open its doors to the first-ever Wahlburgers restaurant in Iowa on Tuesday, Sept. 11, and provide free meals to all first responders throughout the day. The grand opening festivities will continue with a special public celebration and appearance by the Wahlberg brothers – Mark, Donnie and Paul – in the restaurant’s parking lot on Saturday, Sept. 22.
When Hy-Vee opens its doors to its newest Wahlburgers on Sept. 11 – a national day of honor and remembrance for our nation’s first responders – local police, firefighters and EMS/paramedics can enjoy a free meal at the West Des Moines location. Invitations have been sent to local departments inviting these honored guests as a way of thanking them for serving our community.
The following weekend, the public is invited to attend a West Des Moines Wahlburgers celebration event that runs from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Sept. 22. The Wahlberg brothers will take the stage around 6:30 p.m. in front of the restaurant to address the crowd and then dine inside during a special VIP event. At the outdoor celebration, Hy-Vee will also provide several lucky fans in the crowd with a unique opportunity to attend the VIP party and participate in a special “meet and greet” with the Wahlberg brothers. (A press conference will also take place with the brothers prior to the event at the Ron Pearson Center. Details will be released at a later date.)
Before the restaurant opens, local media are invited to get an early look at the 7,015-square-foot West Des Moines Wahlburgers restaurant on Monday, Sept. 10, at 10:30 a.m. Reporters will have the opportunity to take a tour, interview Hy-Vee executives, sample a few of the menu items, and take photos and video.
Wahlburgers restaurants offer a unique dining experience featuring signature burgers, home-style sides, housemade condiments, fish, chicken and vegetarian options, and a full bar including specialty drinks such as adult frappes and floats. Some of the most popular menu items at the restaurant include the OUR Burger, BBQ Bacon Burger, Tater Tots, Smoked Bacon Mac n’ Cheese, Fluffanuttahh Adult Frappe and Mud Pie Adult Frappe. Chef Paul Wahlberg created the franchise along with his brothers to please all tastes through both lighter and heartier menu offerings, served up in a casual, music-filled atmosphere.
This will be the second Hy-Vee-owned Wahlburgers restaurant to open. The first opened in May at Mall of America in Bloomington, Minnesota. A third Hy-Vee-owned Wahlburgers will open in Olathe, Kansas, on Sept. 25.
