Hy-Vee Provides Free DART Transportation to Harding Hills Hy-Vee Neighbors in Need of Groceries and Prescriptions

July 6, 2018 | News & Press Releases

DES MOINES, Iowa (July 6, 2018) — Hy-Vee, Inc. in partnership with the Des Moines Area Regional Transit Authority (DART) announced today that it will provide free transportation from its flood-impacted Harding Hills Hy-Vee to its East Euclid Hy-Vee to neighbors living in Prospect Park and surrounding areas.

Earlier this week, city officials said the temporary closure of the Harding Hills Hy-Vee created a food desert for many of the surrounding neighborhoods, where many people don’t have access to transportation or other grocery options. To address this issue, Hy-Vee will be providing free DART bus service beginning Monday, July 9, from its Harding Hills Hy-Vee, located at 3330 Martin Luther King Jr. Parkway in Des Moines, to its East Euclid Hy-Vee, located at 2540 E. Euclid Ave. in Des Moines. Free bus service will be available between the two Hy-Vee locations from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., seven days a week, until the Harding Hills Hy-Vee reopens.

The DART bus will pick up and drop off customers in each store’s parking lot. The bus service will operate on a continuous loop every 40 minutes. The bus is handicapped accessible. Schedule information will be available at ridedart.com/hy-vee.

Any prescription records customers had with the Harding Hills Hy-Vee have been automatically transferred to the East Euclid Hy-Vee where they can now pick up or fill their prescriptions. Hy-Vee is also making a delivery option available for pharmacy patients. Customers can contact the East Euclid Hy-Vee Pharmacy at 515-262-2108 to arrange for delivery.

Customers can also place orders for grocery delivery via Hy-Vee Aisles Online by visiting www.hy-vee.com/grocery. If customers are having trouble placing an online order or need additional assistance, they can call Hy-Vee’s Customer Care line at (800) 772-4098.

After reviewing the extensive flood damage at the Harding Hills Hy-Vee, it has been determined that the store will now be closed for renovations the majority of the summer. A definitive timeline for reopening has not yet been announced.
