Hy-Vee Partners with American Red Cross for Local Tornado Relief Efforts

LAWRENCE, Kansas (May 29, 2019) — In response to tornado damage across northeastern Kansas and northwestern Missouri on Tuesday evening, Hy-Vee, Inc. announced today that it is partnering with the American Red Cross to assist in recovery efforts after tornadoes caused excessive damage.
Hy-Vee began donating meals, snacks and beverages to impacted residents and emergency workers today and will continue its outreach throughout the duration of cleanup efforts. Hy-Vee also will provide support to area shelters set up for impacted residents.
Starting today, both Lawrence Hy-Vee locations in Kansas will accept monetary donations for the American Red Cross, water and cleaning supplies for those impacted by last night’s tornadoes and storms. Community members who would like to help can drop off their donations at the customer service area inside either store.
“Our hearts go out to all of the families impacted by this natural disaster, as well as the first responders who are taking care of the Lawrence community and surrounding areas,” said Drew Holmes, senior regional vice president of Hy-Vee’s southwest region. “We’ll continue working with emergency management teams, local officials and the American Red Cross to identify what needs Hy-Vee may be able to assist with. As these communities begin their cleanup efforts, we want to do all that we can to help them recover.”
