Hy-Vee Celebrates Arbor Day with Reforestation Project and Seedling Giveaway

More than 3,000 trees to be planted at Winford Wildlife Management Area in New Sharon
NEW SHARON, Iowa (April 25, 2018) — Hy-Vee, Inc. announced today that it will celebrate Arbor Day by funding a reforestation project at the Winford Wildlife Management Area in New Sharon, Iowa, on Friday, April 27. The trees and seedlings were purchased with proceeds from sales of Hy-Vee One Step paper products.
In a partnership with the Arbor Day Foundation, Hy-Vee volunteers will plant more than 3,000 trees at the Winford Wildlife Management Area, including Cottonwood, River Birch, Sycamore, Silver Maple, Bur Oak, Pin Oak, Swamp White Oak, Shagbark, Shell Bark Hickory and Black Walnut. The event will begin with a brief introduction about Hy-Vee’s One Step program as well as a $10,000 check presentation from Kimberly-Clark, which will assist in funding reforestation projects.

Hy-Vee’s One Step program turns proceeds from everyday products into donations that help to feed the hungry, grow community gardens, plant trees and build wells. This spring, the program is expanding to include even more products including multipacks of One Step bottled waters and all Hy-Vee brand cereals. While the reforestation project is taking place, Hy-Vee will also give away more than 4,000 Colorado Blue Spruce seedlings at select stores across its eight-state region on Arbor Day.
