Hy-Vee Opens Sycamore Store

SYCAMORE, IL – Hy-Vee’s long-awaited entry to the DeKalb/Sycamore market became official today with the opening of a 92,500-square-foot supermarket at 2700 DeKalb Road.

A former Kmart building on the site was extensively renovated to house the new store, the 232nd in the Hy-Vee chain. The store brings 475 new jobs and an investment of more than $15 million to the DeKalb/Sycamore economy.

Highlights of the new store include a food court with dining area; a HealthMarket offering a wide selection of natural and organic products and foods for specific dietary needs; the services of two professional chefs and an on-site dietitian; a pharmacy with drive-up service; an attached wine & spirits store; a Hy-Vee Club Room for meetings, classes and events; more than 150 varieties of cheeses from 17 countries around the world; more than 1,400 different produce items, including 140 organic items; an in-store bakery with a pastry chef and seven cake designers on staff; a large meat and seafood department with chef’s grilling station; and much more. A Hy-Vee convenience store on the site offers everyday discounts on gasoline purchases for customers who shop in the supermarket. .

Kerry Sherlock, store director, said Hy-Vee plans to be extensively involved in the community. The store has signed on to be the Official Grocery Sponsor of Northern Illinois University.
