Edgewood Road Hy-Vee Sprouts Get Out and Grow Program
“I wish my child would eat more vegetables!” A common cry by parents everywhere!
It isn’t always easy to get children to eat the right foods. Let’s face it; you can serve your children all the vegetables in the world, but if they don’t like them, they aren’t going to eat them. The intent of the Sprouts program is to increase children’s preferences for vegetables through the experience of helping to grow, prepare and taste featured vegetables.
Your Edgewood Rd. Hy-Vee is implementing an exciting nutrition and garden-based program, “Sprouts – Get Out and Grow." A fenced, raised-bed style garden is now located on the grassy lawn on the northwest end of your Edgewood Rd. Hy-Vee. We are working with groups of students this summer and will offer programming to the public as well. Check the online calendar for kids' gardening classes this summer!
Instructors of program:
Christy Frese, RD, LD Hy-Vee Dietitian and Garden Enthusiast
Cathy Wyatt Full-time Hy-Vee Garden Center employee and garden enthusiast
