Chef Curtis Goudy served nine years in the Ottumwa 224th Combat Engineering Battalion after graduating from Ottumwa High School. Upon completing his tour of duty in Ar Ramadi, Iraq, Curtis returned to Iowa and began working for Cargill. After five years at Cargill, Curtis began his career with Hy-Vee in Ottumwa. He held various positions including assistant manager and certified wine specialist. Simultaneously, Curtis also was an integral part of the concept and design of the Appanoose Rapids Brewing Company in Ottumwa. He was instrumental in the execution of the in-house brewery, and also served as a line cook in the restaurant. His time with Hy-Vee motivated Curtis to pursue an advanced degree in culinary arts. Graduating from Indian Hills Community College in 2013, Curtis has become a Certified Culinarian, which includes all aspects of baking, cooking and hospitality management.

Curtis is an avid hunter, fisher and gardener. Additionally, he has a passion for barbeque and brewing micro beers. His goal is to become known for innovative meat products and to educate the customer on the joys of cooking at home. Cooking healthy meals at home is an almost lost art, and an area in which he is excited to share his knowledge with all our guests. Shoppers can find Curtis in the meat department, making easy-to-cook meals for your family to enjoy.
