Are you ready to begin? The Begin Program is a 10-week weight loss program taught by our Hy-Vee dietitian, Annie Ailts. Weeks 1, 5, and 10 are individual sessions with the remaining weeks being in a group setting. The program includes the following sessions.
Week 1: 60 minute session with a biometric screening (total cholesterol, LDL and HDL cholesterol, triglycerides, blood sugar, blood pressure, heart rate, BMI, and body fat percentage) and discussion of health history, goals, and barriers
Week 2: How to read a Nutrition Facts Label, food composition and energy value of foods
Week 3: Reducing portion sizes and avoiding overeating
Week 4: Grocery store tour: Making healthy choices in the aisles
Week 5: Individual appointment: Review progress and goals
Week 6: Physical activity and self-monitoring of physical activity
Week 7: Fat and sugar
Week 8: Meal planning and cooking
Week 9: Emotional eating, plateaus, and weight maintenance
Week 10: Biometric screening (same as the first week) and conclude program
This is a very thorough program that will help you meet your weight loss goals and maintain a healthy weight.
The cost of the whole program is only $290.
First group session date: July 6, 2015, time of day TBD
