The Art of Canning and Preserving Foods: $10 per person (includes 1 jar for take-home + refreshments)

Saturday, August 16, 9:30 a.m. - noon

Learn the whys, whats and hows of canning from K-State Research and Extension Agent Cindy Evans.  You will learn what jars to use, tips for safety, and the ins and outs of pressure canning and the water bath method.  Each participant will learn to pressure can green beans and how to make strawberry lemonade concentrate via the water bath method.  Each participant will receive a jar of the strawberry lemonade concentrate for take-home.  You will leave the class with the confidence to preserve your summer’s bounty, and the ability to make affordable gifts for your friends and family.  Refreshments will be served during class, and samples of the canned goods will be provided.  A minimum of 10 people is required to hold the class.  Pre-registration and payment are required to hold your spot.  You can register online, and pay at customer service in the store.
