The intent of the Hy-Vee One Step Garden program is to increase children’s preferences for vegetables through the experience of helping to grow, prepare and taste featured vegetables.



Hy-Vee in Faribault is hosting an exciting nutrition and garden-based program, Hy-Vee One-Step Garden, A raised-bed style garden is now located near the Hy-Vee Gas Station. All children enrolled in preschool through completion of 7th grade and their families are invited to participate.



Learn about crops and robbers, how plants grow, learn about a specific area of our Hy-Vee One Step Children’s garden and prepare a healthy recipe using things we are growing in our garden beds!  Classes combine fun in the garden while students learn more about what they grow AND how to cook it. Children under 6 years of age may attend but MUST be accompanied by an adult. All classes will be held in the Hy-Vee One Step garden. You must register at least 24 hours in advance for garden sessions.  Registration is required for this program and is available at Hy-Vee customer service counter, in person or by calling 507-334-2085 or contact Ayn Pavek at [email protected] or by calling the same number and asking for Ayn.  We will need your child’s name, your name and phone number and child’s age.  Any allergies need to be noted at registration as well.



There is no cost for the Hy-Vee One Step Children’s Garden program but advanced registration is required.  Classes with less than 3 participants will be cancelled.  Weather cancellations will be determined one hour before the scheduled event.
