Place a 4-pound round roast in a 3½- to 5-quart slow cooker, cutting to fit if necessary. Pour bottled barbecue sauce over top.
Cover and cook on low heat setting for 10 to 12 hours or on high heat setting for 5 to 6 hours.
Remove roast from cooker, discarding any remaining juices. Using two forks, pull roast apart into shreds and toss with additional barbecue sauce.
