Ingredients:

  • 6 bratwurst or 1 (1 pound) pkg bratwurst
  • 1 large onion, sliced
  • 1 (14.4 ounce) can shredded sauerkraut, drained, optional
  • 1 (12 ounce) bottle beer at room temperature, or 1-1/2 cups apple cider
  • 6 hoagie rolls or hot dog buns
  • Spicy brown mustard
  • Caraway seeds, optional

All you do

  1. Preheat grill to medium direct heat (300°F to 350°F). Place bratwurst in a single layer in a heavy-duty foil pan. Arrange onion and sauerkraut over bratwurst. Pour beer into pan.
  2. Place foil pan directly on grill rack; grill, covered, 20 to 25 minutes or until cooked through.
  3. Meanwhile, heat or lightly grill rolls.
  4. Spread rolls with mustard, place 1 bratwurst in each roll and top with onion mixture. Sprinkle with caraway seeds, if desired, and serve.
