With today’s busy lifestyles, we often try to follow a healthy lifestyle but become overwhelmed making sense of it all. We try to eat right, exercise, get health checkups, de-stress, not smoke and generally live life to its fullest. When your health issues get muddled with the other constraints and demands of everyday life, wouldn’t you just like someone to talk to who could give you advice on how to get healthier and support you in your effort? A health coach serves as a professional who can help you organize your life with healthy habits, help you find your motivation and help you set up a plan to achieve optimal health.

In an effort to expand the Hy-Vee philosophy of “Making Your Life Easier, Healthier, Happier,” we now have most of our 130 dietitians trained as health coaches! You can contact them for assistance in organizing a healthy lifestyle specifically designed for you. The dietitian serves in a variety of roles-- as a health and wellness consultant to individual customers, a resource for store employees for health/medical plan guidance and an expert for local businesses looking for wellness information for their employees. Pharmacists also serve a role as a resource for health and wellness information beyond fulfilling prescription medication. They can review your medications and make sure you are optimizing your health too.

The health coach helps you:

  • Practice a healthy lifestyle, including prescriptions to manage medical conditions
  • Develop the ability and confidence to sustain a healthy lifestyle
  • Become a master of personal health
  • Become more self-aware of your health goals
  • Find and connect with your inner motivation
  • Take ownership of the tough path of behavior change
  • Create a personal health vision
  • Overcome obstacles to reach and sustain a higher level of health
  • Accomplish more than you thought was possible

Contact your local Hy-Vee registered dietitian or pharmacist and see if the health coaching service is available at your store!
