Hello there,

I'm trying to understand how much of the nutrients are really absorved by the body in this multivitamins. By MultiV I mean those that have most of the nutrients needed daily.

Is it known if these nutrients go through absorption and are used by the body?
Or, on the contrary, it is suspected that none of it is absorbed.

Also, would you know if it's possible to measure the amount of nutrients that are absorbed in a pill like this? I tried to find a scientific article that would talk about this, but much of them are just confusing.

Please share some insights on this topic.

While it's important to first and foremost try and receive nutrition through food. A multivitamin & mineral supplement can be useful when your diet is lacking and you want to "fill the gaps."

To my knowledge, I have not seen any scientific literature that has studied the aborption rate of nutrients in a multivitamin. However, it may be a good idea to take your multivitamin during a meal as the protein and fat within that meal will help with the absorption of certain nutrients in the supplement such as fat-soluble vitamins A, D, E and K.

Please let me know if you have any additional questions, have a great day!

This is an interesting question that brings up several important points.  I can say  taking them with milk is not great idea, as milk may interfere with the absorption of some of the nutrients in a multivitamin such as iron, so milk and multivitamin is the bad combinaiton.

Yes, thank you for this reminder!  Taking a mulitivitamin that contains iron would be best absorbed with a Vitamin C food source such as a small glass of juice rather than milk that does in fact limit the absorption of the iron.

Regarding to the MultiV your body can't absorb many of those quantities at once. Fats help us absorb vitamins and nutrients into our system.  If you're too low, it won't matter how many calcium supplements you take cuz you need fats to glue it to you.Recently I got the best supplements for bones-Multivitamin, It works like miracle & provide the enough quantity of nutitions to your body.
