In Response to Diet Confusion.:
Recently diagnosed with congestive heart failure. Does that mean I have to follow a low sodium or a heart healthy diet?

Great question! With congestive heart failure, a low-sodium diet may actually help you feel better and prevent future heart problems. However, a heart-healthy diet is also considered a low-sodium diet and provides additional health benefits. Not only is a heart-healthy diet low in sodium, but also low in saturated fats, trans fats, and cholesterol and is high in fiber. These additional factors can provide further preventative benefits for you.
You can learn more about low-sodium and heart-healthy foods by contacting your local Hy-Vee dietitian.
