Great question! With congestive heart failure, a low-sodium diet may actually help you feel better and prevent future heart problems. However, a heart-healthy diet is also considered a low-sodium diet and provides additional health benefits. Not only is a heart-healthy diet low in sodium, but also low in saturated fats, trans fats, and cholesterol and is high in fiber. These additional factors can provide further preventative benefits for you.

You can learn more about low-sodium and heart-healthy foods by contacting your local Hy-Vee dietitian.

I hope you find this information helpful!

Hi,

Even you are hooked up to this diet in your entire life.  Bear in mind that low-sodium and heart-healthy diet does not need to spoil the pleasure of eating. Enjoying what you eat is important. Even if you crave salt you can learn to like foods that are lower in salt. Your taste buds will change soon, and you will not miss the salt. Removing salt can bring out flavors that may have been hidden by the salt.
