I think I may be developing an minor allergy to strawberries. My mouth and throat itch when I eat them lately. What causes someone to develop allergies late in life, and is there anything I can or should do to prevent it from getting worse? I really like strawberries!

It's not as common for people to develop food allergies later in life. From my experience, I notice that people can develop sensitivities later in life to foods they commonly eat. Are you eating anything else with the strawberries when you notice these symptoms? Do you have any other food allergies?

When someone develops a food allergy, we recommend that they refrain from eating the problem food. You may want to consider speaking with an doctor who specializes in allergies.

It is quite rare for someone to suddenly develop allergies in the latter part of his life. It is best that you test if it is really strawberries you are allergic to. Maybe you are eating something else that would cause such reaction? In the event that strawberry is really the culprit, then try to shy away from eating it. It is also best that you seek the help of a medical doctor regarding the matter. I do hope it's not the strawberries though.

Hi,

Regarding to strawberry allergy, i have read an article, that symptoms includes numbness and tingling in their mouths, along with other are burning lips, intestinal distress, and congestion. Good thing, allergy can be confirmed with allergy testing. So you better, have the test.
