Tulips For Outside Planting

Q: My son bought me some beautiful tulips for Valentine’s Day from Hy-Vee. Can they be planted outside? If so, when? Keri – Van Meter

A: Let’s recycle them. Pick a well-drained area in the full sun. Put them down in the ground about 6-8 inches and they’ll bloom next year. Use a little high phosphorus bonemeal or a bulb food.
