Grass To Replace Tree Hole

Q: We just had a 40-year-old blue spruce tree removed. How should I prepare the soil for grass in this sunny area? Al – Des Moines

A: Fill the hole with dirt. Use perennial rye with full sun grass seed. Mix in the soil with starter fertilizer. Once the grass is mowed, fertilize every 45 days.
