WEST DES MOINES, IA—Hy-Vee Inc. is voluntarily recalling its 16 oz. packages and 1.5 oz. tubes of Hy-Vee pistachios. The recall is related to pistachios distributed by Setton Pistachio of Terra Bella Inc., which is currently recalling the nuts due to potential contamination with Salmonella.
The 16-oz. package of salted, in-shell pistachios has a UPC of 75450 07939 and a “best by” date of Feb. 3, 2010, Feb. 4, 2010 or March 12, 2010. The 1.5-oz tube of in-shell pistachios has a UPC of 75450 07924 and a “best by” date of Feb. 2, 2010, March 26, 2010 or March 29, 2010. Customers who have purchased any of the affected products may return them to a Hy-Vee store for a full refund.
The pistachios are sold in Hy-Vee stores in Iowa, Illinois, Missouri, Kansas, Nebraska, South Dakota and Minnesota. There have been no reported cases of illness related to this recall.
