Hy-Vee ‘s continued support of Special Olympics Iowa through volunteer work and charitable donations has earned the organization’s “statewide partner” designation for the sixth consecutive year.
“We appreciate our ongoing statewide partnership with Hy-Vee,” says Mark Reed, president and CEO of Special Olympics Iowa. “Hy-Vee is one of the state’s largest employers of Special Olympics Iowa athletes. Hy-Vee employees also donate their time and volunteer at various events during the year.”
Joyce Allard, director of communications for the organization, says Hy-Vee dietitians have made a significant impact at Special Olympics events and the statewide competitions each summer and winter. About 11,000 athletes take part.
“The dietitians were a hit at the last Winter Games. The athletes really took the information they had about food and nutrition to heart,” she says.
